One of the most distinctive museums on the west coast. Here you can experience the history of shipping, polar expeditions and life in the Arctic. Open daily 11 a.m.–5 p.m. (June, July and August).

Brandal centre lies by the sea with a fine sandy beach. The most dedicated Brandal residents have been winter bathing here since 1994 and are still going strong. You will find a bathing jetty and trampoline in summer.

Great recreational area with views of the open sea. The area is known from World War II when the Germans used it as a coastal fort.

One of the finest beaches in Sunnmøre is found at the National Monument at Overå. An east-facing, shallow beach with fine sand and good parking facilities, three kilometres from Hareid centre. Other beaches in the area: Holesanden by Snipsøyrvatnet, Osnessanden (Ulsteinvik) and Roppesanden (Flø).

Experience the Viking Site this summer! Visit Hǫðr and travel back to the Viking Age. A unique experience for young and old alike. Open Wednesday–Sunday 12–5 p.m. (until 16 August).

If you enjoy going on a «treasure hunt», a visit to the Brukt & Billig second-hand shop in Hareid is well worth a trip. You will also find second-hand shops in Ulsteinvik, Myrvåg and two in Volda.

Ulsteinvik town centre offers charming street shops, cafés, restaurants and good shopping experiences. Here you will find both Thon Senter Ulsteinvik and Alti Blåhuset, with a varied selection of shops, eateries and services. Take a stroll along the beautiful waterfront, enjoy the maritime atmosphere and use the town centre as a natural starting point for exploring the rest of Ulstein.

Ulstein has a good network of walking paths that make it easy to explore the municipality on foot. The paths run between the town centre, nature and coastal landscapes, and are well signposted.

Flø is about 10 kilometres from Ulsteinvik town centre. Flø offers beautiful nature and the open sea right outside. You will find Roppesanden, Studio Hugo Opdal and Flø Feriesenter in the small village.

Culture house and cinema in the centre of Ulsteinvik with films, concerts, theatre and events for the whole family. Sjøborg cinema shows films Wednesday–Sunday in summer. Tickets and programme are available on the website.

At Runde Environmental Centre you can experience exhibitions on the marine environment, plastics research, seabirds and life in the sea. Every day in summer there are family activities for young and old. The Runde bird cliff is known for puffins, bird cliffs and spectacular coastal landscapes. If you want a longer walk, you can visit Runde lighthouse, a historic lighthouse and fine hiking destination with views of the open sea.

A beautiful fjord village at the inner end of Hjørundfjorden, surrounded by some of the most spectacular mountains in Sunnmøre.

Historic hotel from 1891 that has hosted royalty, artists and explorers. The hotel is an experience in itself, with beautiful gardens and a unique history.

Experience farm life, history and nature at Kråen farm. A great detour for anyone who wants to feel the authentic South Sunnmøre.

A picturesque village at the inner end of the Sunnylvsfjorden, known for the large waterfall that runs through the centre. From here the ferry goes into the Geirangerfjorden, and the village is a popular starting point for fjord experiences.

If you are travelling by car, you can take the ferry from Hareid centre to Sulesund. From the ferry quay it is about 25 minutes by car to Ålesund town centre. The passenger boat runs from Hareid centre to Ålesund town centre. The crossing takes about 25 minutes, and the boat docks in the middle of town – perfect for a day trip or onward travel.
